Congress is sifting through a number of proposals to pay for a potentially mammoth healthcare plan. Ideas include raising taxes on alcohol, cigarettes, soda, company health benefits, and health savings accounts. Other proposals include limiting medical costs by limiting the amount of sodium in packaged foods and restaurants, and putting a cap on deductions for charitable donations. In the coming weeks and months, Dr. Rand Paul will propose alternative solutions to reforming healthcare without the federal government raising taxes, micromanaging diets, and stifling generosity.
