For fifteen years, Rand Paul has supported Americans for Tax Reform and the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, which members of Congress and the Senate sign as a commitment to oppose any tax increases on individuals or businesses. He has personally assisted over 100 candidates and elected officials to sign the pledge, and now Dr. Paul is happy to be the very first United States Senate candidate to sign this pledge.
Americans for Tax Reform was formed at the direction of former President Reagan in 1985. The Pledge is their flagship project and has become a symbol of a small government, tax-decreasing mentality.
Signing the Pledge requires the following commitment:
“I _____ pledge to the taxpayers of the __________ district, of the state of __________, and to all the people of this state, that I will oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes.”
Dr. Paul’s signing of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge is a momentous occasion for his campaign. It constitutes an opportunity to reinforce Rand Paul’s promise to Kentucky voters that he will protect their freedom and personal liberties with every decision he makes and every vote that he casts. Grover Norquist is scheduled to come to Lexington, KY June 29th to acknowledge Dr. Paul’s pledge.
