Rand Paul raised nearly $200,000 on Wednesday pushing his total fundraising over the $1,000,000 mark.
While Dr. Paul’s campaign raised yesterday’s money from 3000 individuals whose contributions averaged less than $65, his opponent in the US Senate race in Kentucky held a $500-a-plate fundraiser in Washington, DC. The opponent’s fundraiser was attended almost exclusively by DC insiders, including many Republicans who voted for stimulus packages and the corporate and financial bailouts.
“I couldn’t be more proud to say that while my opponent was dining with well-heeled DC insiders, my campaign likely raised more money than him from ordinary folks who gave what they could in support of my campaign. There is a revolution happening in the Republican party. Republican voters are turning away from big-government solutions and returning to the principles of freedom and liberty that made America strong.”
As of midnight EDT, the Paul campaign had raised $186,276 and was on target to hit $200,000 by the time the dust settles from the day’s money bomb event. Dr. Paul’s campaign crossed the $1,000,000 mark at 8:15pm EDT with a $100 donation from Mr. James Dressman of Southgate, Kentucky.
“We plan to take this campaign to the hearts and minds of Kentucky’s Republican primary voters, ” Dr. Paul said. “The message of liberty and small government is a powerful one that resonates in the soul of every true Republican.”
