As the leading conservative candidate in Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race, Rand Paul is driving the discussion about returning market principles to health care just as Congress moves closer to enacting socialized medicine.

The bill passed by the House late Saturday night expands government’s reach into private health care decisions despite nearly a half-century of evidence that doing so increases costs and hurts quality and availability of service.

Rand Paul supports ending price-fixing, ending health care rationing by government, and lowering barriers to entry for innovative health insurance products that could increase competition, lower costs, and improve quality of service.
