The Great Climate Shakedown

While a record-setting blizzard pounds Copenhagen, advocates of more government power are scheming to implement international enforcement of Al Gore’s brand of warming-based radical environmental policies.  Drubbed out of existence by history and economic facts, the communists (that’s right communists–not their blander progeny, the socialists) are marching in the streets of Copenhagen demanding an end to our capitalist system and prosperity and a return to greater state planning and control.

If there was ever any doubt as to what the climate-cloaked brouhaha is all about, it can be a mystery no longer.  It is now and has always been about governments taking away liberties and confiscating wealth.  It has always been about plundering rich, free and prosperous republics and sending the spoils to every 3rd world dictator and low-life thug imaginable.   It is anti-American and anti-freedom.

Here are some of the highlights (and liberty lowlights) from the Copenhagen conference:

  • Receiving thunderous applause for his remarks, Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez stated that “capitalism is the road to hell” and “let’s fight against capitalism and make it obey us.”
  • Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe, while demanding hundreds of billions of dollars from rich nations, declared “these capitalists of carbon… belch their dangerous emissions… while the lesser mortals of the developing sphere die.”  It’s tragically laughable to be called a murderer by a ruler who, for years, watched his own people being starved and killed.
  • Our own secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, played into the hands of these anti-American extremists by letting them know that our country and its leaders will be willing victims in this wealth-transfer scheme.  After committing the U.S. to funding its part of the $100 billion Great Climate Shakedown, she said “One hundred billion dollars a year is a lot of money.  It’s appropriate, usable, and will be effective.”
While the dictators are putting on their parkas in Copenhagen, we in the United States had better start taking notice that this administration, it’s international allies, and even some within our own Republican party are complicit in what could be the greatest loss of freedom in our generation.
We must stand and fight.
