BOWLING GREEN, KY – Ophthalmologist and taxpayer advocate Rand Paul has surged to a 21 point lead in the Republican Primary for United States Senate, according to a new independent poll released today. The survey, conducted by Magellan Strategies, shows Dr. Paul with a commanding 44-23 percent lead over establishment candidate Trey Grayson.

The poll also shows that likely Republican primary voters hold a 67 percent favorable opinion of the Tea Party Movement.

“Rand Paul is traveling the state and sharing with his follow Kentuckians the message of term limits, balanced budgets and the need to rein in out of control spending and debt,” said campaign advisor Jesse Benton. “Dr. Paul is the candidate of the Tea Parties and is working hard to bring his pro-American message to Washington to fight for Kentucky values.’”

This poll shows growing momentum for Rand Paul as he has expanded his 19 point lead reflected in the last independent poll. Another recent poll shows Dr. Paul beating both potential Democrat candidates in hypothetical head to head match-ups. Dr. Paul has been endorsed by Sarah Palin and was recently identified as one of the five most important candidates to support by Dick Armey, Freedom Works and the National Tea Party Movement. Dr. Paul has also received endorsements from Concerned Women for America, Gun Owners of America, Steve Forbes and RedState.com.
