The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza points out in Monday’s paper the importance of Rand Paul’s growing campaign on the national stage:
“A Paul victory would be the nascent “tea party” movement’s first major establishment scalping.”
While we might shy away from the violent imagery, the point that a Rand Paul victory on May 18 is likely to shake the political establishment to its core is a apt one. Rand is leading in all polls, in all demographics, and in all areas of the state on the strength of his reform agenda including a balanced federal budget, term limits and ending wasteful earmark spending. Rand’s consistent pro-life, strong national defense, and pro-Kentucky business positions have also driven his moderate opponent to distraction. Rand’s opponent has wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars so far on a series of bizarre, ineffective attack ads.
