Celebrate Freedom by fighting for it

As we all celebrate the birth of our great nation this weekend, we owe that nation an examination of the state of our freedom.

Our country is once again as Thomas Paine said, in a time that tries men’s souls.

Government and debt are growing. Liberty is shrinking. The federal giant often seeks to overpower our local officials and our individual freedom.

In the past year alone we seen 1.5 trillion dollars added to our debt. We have seen the passage of a nationalized healthcare plans that puts federal bureaucrats in charge of our health insurance.

We have fought off card check and cap and trade, but just barely.

Those in power regularly seek to abridge our 1st, 2nd and 4th amendment rights. And it is clear they have no regard for the 9th or 10th either. These are the founding principles of our nation, and good men shed their blood to give them to us.

Fellow Patriots, our country is asking for us to stand up and honor their sacrifice.

So as we all enjoy our families and friends, our barbecues and fireworks, let us celebrate. Let us celebrate the country we have been given, which is still the greatest in the history of civilization.

But let us also remember what Ronald Reagan correctly said: freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.

Preserving our liberty so we can continue to live in freedom and prosperity: that is our mission.

I thank you for all you’ve done for our campaign and our country and ask for your continued support.

In Liberty
