BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Today, Dr. Rand Paul’s campaign for U.S. Senate received word that the National Right to Life Political Action Committee has given Paul its endorsement. The group cites Dr. Paul’s strong opposition to President Obama’s national health care plan as a major reason for the endorsement.

“Recently Democrats in Congress voted to enact President Obama’s health care legislation, which will provide government funding for health plans that pay for abortion on demand, and promote the rationing of lifesaving medical treatments,” the group said in the statement endorsing Paul. “You [Rand Paul] are a strong advocate for life: you support pro-life legislation and you oppose the use of federal funding for elective abortion. We look forward to working with you to restore legal protection for innocent life—unborn children and medically disabled or dependent persons whose lives are threatened by abortion or euthanasia.”

National Right to Life is the nation’s largest pro-life group with affiliates in all 50 states and over 3,000 local chapters. The group works through legislation and education to work against abortion, infanticide, euthanasia and assisted suicide.

“We are proud to have the endorsement of a group as important to the struggle for protecting innocent life as the National Right to Life,” said Paul campaign manager Jesse Benton. “Rand Paul will always fight on the side of life.”
