Senator Rand Paul Votes to Repeal Obamacare

Vows to continue fight to end government takeover of health care

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Rand Paul joined his Republican Senate colleagues in a vote to repeal the massive job-killing health care bill championed by Democrats in the 111th Congress. While the vote to repeal was defeated 47-51, Sen. Paul will continue to fight to end this massive government overreach and provide Americans with better solutions to health care.

“As a physician, I am opposed to Obamacare. As an American, I demand a better solution to this big-government takeover of health care. And as a U.S. Senator, I will do everything in my power to see this burdensome and destructive legislation repealed,” Sen. Paul said today. “The government has no constitutional right to impose a health insurance mandate on Americans. By applying free-market principles and removing the government’s wrest of power, Americans will be better served to make decisions that best serve their families and businesses.”
