Last Saturday saw Dr. Paul and the campaign staff busy for over fourteen hours, as they drove three hours each way to a series of events in Fayette, Montgomery and Powell counties.

The first stop was at the Fayette County GOP breakfast, where around ninety people turned out to hear Dr. Paul. This was close to a record for this event, which saw ninety-four attendees in the past when Sen. McConnell spoke. There were a variety of good questions from supporters and opposition alike, with many yet undecided.

Dr. Paul then hosted a Lexington town hall meeting. Despite a last minute change of venue, over a hundred turned out for the discussion.

“To lower cost, Paul proposed a plan relying on health savings accounts (HSAs) coupled with catastrophic insurance to place patients in control of how they spend their health care dollars. He said that Americans have come to rely too much on insurance for routine medical care.

‘You don’t buy insurance for things that are going to happen. You buy it for things you don’t expect to happen - like getting cancer.’” Visit Examiner.com to read the rest of their in-depth coverage of the event.

Afterwards, the crew dropped in on a Tea Party in Powell County, where Rand had the opportunity to speak. Rand’s support of term limits evoked a particularly enthusiastic response from the group.

The day finished with a candidate forum in Mt. Sterling, which also went well.

Many supporters turned out to these events to pick up signs and bumper stickers, or just to meet Dr. Paul. Most voters the campaign spoke with felt like they weren’t really represented in Washington. Dr. Paul’s frequent campaign stops have afforded Republican voters the opportunity to meet and talk with their candidate, and find out for themselves that he can be relied on to fight for the same beliefs as they do.

Another eventful day drew to a close, and Dr. Paul and his contingent prepared for the long drive home for a brief rest before heading out to a veteran’s meeting the following day.
