WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Sen. Rob Portman (Ohio) introduced the official Senate Republican Jobs Plan, a blueprint developed to create private-sector growth and strengthen the economy. One of the provisions in the plan calls for passage of the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act, or REINS Act, which was originally introduced by Sen. Rand Paul in the Senate and by fellow Kentuckian Congressman Geoff Davis in the House of Representatives earlier this year.

“Holding government accountable to an open regulatory process is an important step in creating job growth in America,” Sen. Paul said. “I commend Sen. Portman for including this provision in the Senate Jobs Plan to lift the burden of regulatory red tape currently affecting many American businesses.”

Congressman Davis also lauded the inclusion of the REINS Act support in the jobs bill, saying, “I am thrilled that the REINS Act has been recognized by leaders in the Senate as an important tool to help the economy and create jobs. Anytime a regulation or rule produced by an executive branch agency can have this kind of impact and broad reaching implications on our economy, it should be subject to the review of Congress. The REINS Act will provide more transparency and accountability to the regulatory process.”
