U.S. Senate candidate Trey Grayson took a swipe at working Kentuckians when he described his government experience as worth more than the work of a practicing eye surgeon serving patients in Kentucky for two decades.

“He (Rand Paul) has no real record of accomplishing anything … the contrast is with me, I’ve been in Frankfort for six years,” Grayson said.

Grayson made news last fall claiming falsely that Rand Paul, who lives and works in Bowling Green, was not a Kentuckian.

Rand’s response to the first gaffe was: “I’ve been a Kentuckian longer than Grayson has been a Republican.”

Grayson made this more recent gaffe as a guest on WKYT’s Newsmakers program which aired in Lexington over the weekend.

“Kentuckians elected Trey Grayson to be our chief elections officer, but we are paying him to say strange things about Rand Paul and to run for the U.S. Senate,” said Paul’s campaign manager David Adams.
