Obama supporter tells truth

Ken Terry, a former editor at Medical Economics Magazine, has a take on the controversy over health insurance companies warning customers about ObamaCare. His reaction deserves more attention that it has gotten.

Terry actually supports a government takeover of the health care system proposed by Washington D.C. Democrats and doesn’t mind big-government censors prohibiting private businesses from telling the truth when it is inconvenient for the government.

But Terry doesn’t support the Obama Administration lying about it’s own plan:

“It’s their story, and they’re sticking to it. I’m referring to the contention of the Obama Administration, supported by Sen. Max Baucus, that projected reductions in payments to Medicare Advantage plans will not affect the benefits of enrollees.”

“Of course, that’s nonsense. Testifying before the Senate Finance Committee, Douglas Elmendorf, director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, admitted that, in fact, seniors in these private plans would see benefit cuts if Medicare decreased payments to the insurance companies. Actually, we don’t need Elmendorf’s testimony to know that: The extra services that Medicare HMOs and some other plans provide to seniors cannot be provided if the plans receive less money.”

“I support President Obama’s reform efforts, and I disagree with the “free speech” argument for allowing the wealthy and big corporations to fund any type or amount of political propaganda. Yet, in this particular case, the Administration is shooting itself in the foot by not leveling with the public about the tradeoffs involved in cutting payments to Medicare Advantage plans–even if it’s for a good cause.”
