A transcription error in The Washington Times newspaper presented incorrect information about the Rand Paul for U.S. Senate campaign. The paper’s September 1 edition reprinted a section of a blog post on RealClearPolitics.com in Greg Pierce’s Inside Politics column, but left out two words. The omission left readers with a false impression that the Rand Paul for U.S. Senate campaign has orchestrated the September 23 money bomb online fundraiser sponsored by supporter Josh Manuel.

Josh set up the money bomb fundraiser on his own in answer to a Washington D.C. fundraiser sponsored mostly by U.S. Senators who voted for the disastrous bank bailout in 2008. The “Bailout Ball” in D.C. will also be held on September 23.

The campaign appreciates all efforts of supporters like Josh, but has played no role in organizing the fundraiser he is setting up. The campaign expects The Washington Times to correct its error.
