Dr. Rand Paul supports allowing free market innovations to reduce public health care costs. One easy way to do that would be to allow Medicare eligible senior citizens to opt out of Medicare. Currently, federal administrative policies prohibit Social Security recipients from refusing Medicare benefits and obtaining medical coverage privately.
Eliminating such restrictions would allow individuals to escape the collapsing Medicare program and save taxpayers money by reducing losses more for every person who disenrolls.
