The courage to lead

The Rand Paul for U.S. Senate campaign continues to get into fighting shape for a brutal general election next year by criss-crossing the state meeting Kentuckians and fielding tough questions from everyone who wants to ask. When The Kentucky Gazette newspaper recently posed twenty policy questions, Rand Paul didn’t hesitate.

Apparently, not everyone was quite so eager to take any courageous stands.

From the Gazette’s October 14, 2009 edition:

“Despite being given two weeks to complete the questionnaire, Conway declined to participate.”

Who can blame these politicians for fearing to answer a newspaper reporter’s difficult questions? Well, you might, once you see how straightforward the questions were.

A few examples:

“Do you support universal (health care) coverage?”

“Which health care reform ideas do you support?”

“On the issue of abortion, do you support a pro-choice or pro-life point of view?”

“Which federal gun control measures do you favor?”

“Regarding Iraq and Afghanistan, which long-term policies are most likely to result in success in those countries?”

“Will your campaign accept monetary contributions from individuals and political action committees based outside of Kentucky?”

Again, Dr. Paul answered every single question. Wonder why his opponents weren’t all so prepared to defend their ideas?
