ObamaCare for Mr. Mom?

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Michigan) suggested Friday that when the government takes over our health care system, all insurance policies should be required to cover maternity services.

“I don’t think you can … allow 60% of the insurance companies not to provide basic maternity care in a new system we’re setting up that hopefully is going to be better than the old one,” Stabenow told the Senate Finance Committee.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama says his plan “will end insurers’ practice of charging different premiums … based on gender.”

So, if you are keeping score at home, that means women who don’t want or need maternity coverage will be required to buy this expensive mandate. And so will men.

Rand Paul supports a more rational approach to health care reform.
