The Rand Paul for U.S. Senate campaign congratulates Senator Jim Bunning for his decisive move today to hold back the runaway train of big government in Washington D.C.

“Spending bills don’t bankrupt America, passing spending bills without reading them first bankrupts America,” said David Adams, campaign manager. “Rand Paul supports Jim Bunning’s transparency resolution, which involves CBO scoring and three full days to consider what we are doing before we do it.”

Sen. Bunning offered his resolution today because of the health care bills being rushed through Congress without proper public scrutiny.

“When we are considering legislation of this magnitude it defies common sense to force a vote on a bill without knowing exactly what is in it,” Bunning said. “This simple rule change will shed some light on the legislative process so the taxpayers can see where their hard earned money is going and how much the bill really costs.”

Rand Paul opposes efforts to increase government control of the health care system and believes simple market reforms like ending price-fixing and allowing people to buy health insurance across state lines would improve service and lower prices for all Americans.
