U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul challenged Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear to put aside partisan obligations and urge U.S. Representatives John Yarmuth and Ben Chandler to oppose the Democrats’ socialized medicine bill to protect the people of his state.

“The Medicaid unfunded mandate on Kentucky citizens in the federal bill should be enough for anyone who cares about Kentucky to oppose the bill the U.S. Senate passed Thursday,” Paul said. “I been talking to people across this state about ways to improve our health care system. Increasing the state’s budget deficit isn’t one of them.”

Rand Paul supports higher deductibles, ending government price fixing, and allowing health insurance innovations such as purchase across state lines to lower health care costs.
