On December 16, 2007, supporters of Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul broke the all time fundraising record by raising $6 million in a single day, holding tea parties throughout the USA to protest an oppressive government. On December 16, 2009, will Dr. Rand Paul’s supporters make history again?
Congressman Ron Paul joined Dr. Rand Paul for an interview on King World News last Saturday to discuss what we can do to return to constitutional government. Both doctors also weighed in on why the Tea Party on December 16 will be one of the most important days this year for Rand’s campaign.
“I need some new Republicans, people who believe in constitutional government, a balanced budget and liberty and so I’m out across the country recruiting new Republicans who I think if they get here will not only challenge the institutions of government but be willing to even challenge the Republican Party and our leadership if they feel like we’re going in the wrong direction. I think just a handful of new Republicans in the senate could help change the direction.”
U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul has accepted a debate invitation extended by the University of Louisville College Republicans. Suggested dates for the debate are January 21, 27, and February 4, 15, and 25.
Dr. Rand Paul recently met with President Jim Babka of Downsize DC, an organization which shares a synergy with Dr. Paul’s beliefs on reforming government, reducing its size and scope, and following the Constitution.
A warm group of over 50 people braved a torrential downpour in Shepherdsville to hear Rand deliver an impassioned speech on following the Constitution, and celebrate news of Jimmy Higdon’s victory in the special election.

To expand on recent coverage by Joseph Gerth of the Courier Journal, Rand favors twelve year term limits for both representatives and senators.
Rand is aware such a rule could remove his father, Rep. Ron Paul (who also supports term limits,) but believes the overall result would be less corruption and special interest influence in Washington, and promote the election of more candidates who would promote liberty and actually represent the people.
